BAJA CALIFORNIA , Mexico

Where the desert meets the sea.

Baja California is a place of striking contrasts, where the raw stillness of the desert meets the ever-moving, life-filled sea.

Towering cacti and sunbaked mountains give way to turquoise waters so clear they seem to glow from within, creating a landscape that feels both vast and intimate at once. Here, life thrives against the odds, above and below the surface, offering a quiet kind of magic in every direction. The air is dry, the light is soft and golden, and the ocean pulses with abundance, reminding you that even in the most rugged environments, beauty and life are deeply intertwined.

Over five days on Isla Espíritu Santo, our freediving experience unfolds as a gentle progression from arrival into immersion. After travelling from San José del Cabo to La Paz and crossing by boat to the island, the first day is about settling into camp, getting oriented with the ocean, and easing in with an initial swim or dive in the calm, clear waters.

From there, the days naturally deepen… mornings often begin with breathwork or yoga, followed by time in the water developing freediving skills, building comfort, and exploring the surrounding reefs and bays. As the journey continues, ocean sessions are balanced with rest, reflection, and slow moments on the beach, while wildlife encounters, such as swimming with sea lions or other marine life, unfold organically in this protected, biodiverse environment. Evenings bring the group together for shared meals and quiet time under the stars, creating a rhythm that feels both grounding and expansive. By the final days, there is a sense of ease and connection; to the ocean, to the island, and to a simpler way of living, before a last swim and a gentle return to the mainland.

CAMP CECIL de la ISLA

Camp Cecil on Isla Espíritu Santo is a true expedition-style base, set on a remote stretch of coastline where desert cliffs meet the open sea, and everything feels wild, raw, and alive.

Designed as a low-impact, leave-no-trace camp, it exists lightly on the land, disappearing without a trace while offering a front-row seat to one of the most extraordinary marine environments on Earth. Days begin with the sound of waves and the promise of the ocean just steps from your tent, and end around shared meals under vast, star-filled skies. It’s not just about comfort, it’s about immersion. Living close to the elements, moving with the rhythms of nature, and experiencing the island in a way that feels both adventurous and deeply connected.

Small Groups, Deep Dives

This OCEAN TRAVEL journey is intentionally kept small, with a maximum of eight travellers creating the space for a truly immersive experience. With Hanli and Peter as your guides and coaches, you’ll be supported both in the water and on land, developing your freediving skills along the line and in the wild, open waters surrounding the island. The small group dynamic fosters a strong sense of connection, bringing together like-minded, adventurous individuals who share in every part of the experience; from ocean sessions to slow, shared meals and quiet moments in between.

Isla Espíritu Santo’s Story

Isla Espíritu Santo remains wild and untouched today because of the extraordinary conservation efforts of local and international partners. In the 1990s, the island faced the threat of large-scale development, including plans for a resort casino, but through years of persistence, advocacy, and collaboration, the land was gradually purchased and ultimately donated to the Mexican government for protection. This collective effort not only secured the island’s future, but also helped establish it as a UNESCO World Heritage site, ensuring that its wild beauty ecosystems would remain intact for generations to come

Authentic Local Hosts

Our Camp Cecil hosts, the wonderful TOSEA team, are the heart and soul of the Baja experience. As a family-run team with deep roots in the region, they bring an infectious passion for the ocean, the desert, and the unique culture of Baja, creating a sense that you’re not just visiting, but truly living this place alongside them. Their teams are highly trained, safety-focused, and deeply knowledgeable, but what stands out most is their warmth, energy, and genuine love for sharing this extraordinary environment. With a strong commitment to conservation and low-impact travel, they ensure that every experience is not only unforgettable, but also respectful of the wild ecosystems that make Isla Espíritu Santo so special.
